Library Reference and Research Assistance
A research librarian can help you locate information, find library materials (books, articles, etc.), identify relevant databases, build and refine your research strategy, and evaluate sources. Research services are available in person or live-online via chat from the library website. Assistance is also available via text (773-362-4409), email (ask@csu.libanswers.com), or telephone (773-995-2235). Use the "chat now!" button in the upper-right section of the website to initiate a chat session.
Research librarians are available for assistance during the hours indicated below:
Monday by appointment only
Tuesday through Thursday, 10am-6pm without an appointment
Friday by appointment only

Note: The hours of service for Research & Instruction Services are different from the hours the Gwendolyn Brooks Library building and the Circulation Desk are open.

Schedule An Appointment with a Librarian
Research consultation appointments are available to Chicago State students, faculty, and staff who need assistance finding relevant materials on a particular research topic or to meet a specific information need.
Research consultations can be done in person or virtually via Zoom.
To request an appointment, complete and submit the online request form. Requests must be submitted at least two (2) business days in advance of the date you wish to schedule. Please note, holidays, official school closings, and weekend days do not count as business days.
Appointment Hours:
Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
