Use the Library's discovery system, Primo VE, to search for books (and other materials) in the Gwendolyn Brooks Library collection by following these steps:

  • From the Library home page, click Find in the navigation bar at the top of each page, then click on the Catalogs link under
    Research Resources.
  • Confirm that the GBL Catalog radio button is selected to search for GBL materials.
  • Use the dropdown menus, if you wish, to indicate Subject, Author, or Title, whichever is appropriate
  • Enter your search terms on the search line(s)
  • Click SEARCH
  • Below the Search Box and above the Results list, click Sign in, select “Patron Login,” and enter your CSU login username and password
  • In the list of results, click on the title of the item you are looking for, which will open the catalog record for the item
  • In the catalog record, note the availabilitylocation, and call number for the item
  • If the location is Main Stacks on Floor 3, retrieve the item from the book stacks on the third floor and visit the Circulation Desk to check it out
  • If the location is ROVER, under Get It, click the green “Request” link. Then, click SEND REQUEST
  • If your request was submitted successfully, the message, “Your request was successfully placed,” should appear
  • Visit the Circulation Desk, where the item can be retrieved to check out

Return borrowed items to the Book Drop Box located outside on the East side of the Gwendolyn Brooks Library.
